Interview and Giveaway: T.P. Boje

I'm excited to have author T.P. Boje stopping by the blog today for an interview and giveaway! T.P. is the author of the Afterlife Series, which includes the following books...

Have you ever wondered where you go when you die? Meghan is 16 when it happens to her. She wakes up on a flying steamboat on her way to a school run by Angels in a white marble castle. It is a school everybody has to go to before they are let into Heaven. On the boat she meets Mick who has been dead for more than a hundred years but still looks like a teenager. He helps her past the difficult beginning at the new school in a new world. One day some of Meghan's roommates find a mirror in the cellar of the school and they persuade her to go through it with them - well knowing it is strictly against the rules of the school. Meghan ends up back on earth where she meets Jason. But Jason is in danger and Meghan know something important. Something that is a matter of life and death. Soon she is forced to choose between the two worlds. The one she belongs to now and the one she left.

It is Meghan’s second year at The Academy. While trying to help and care for Jason on earth she is struggling to keep up in school, where they this year will learn both to ride Pegasus’ and fly through severe storms. Meanwhile Mick is becoming more than a friend to her and soon she finds herself facing the unavoidable choice. But something evil is threatening the students at the Academy and Meghan is no longer safe within the walls of the castle. Something causes several of the students to be caught in the middle of a nightmare, that they can’t wake up from. Soon they realize that they might have a traitor in their midst.

Meghan’s training at the Academy is coming to an end. Everything is going great for her as she comes closer to the graduation. She is engaged to be married and the wedding is very near when she hears some disturbing news that makes her rethink all of her coming life. In class they are taught to catch dreams and fly with the speed of light. Meghan soon discovers that she has a lot of special talents and that she is much stronger than she thought. But unfortunately that doesn’t help her as she faces the truth about her own death which will be revealed to her at the end of the year.

Q. What three words best describe your Afterlife series?
Someone wrote this in a review: "Fun, quick and inspirational." I think that covers it.

Q. In just one sentence, tell readers why they MUST read your Afterlife
 books.
Because they are awesome! It is death and life meets with a twist. It will keep you on the edge of your seat until the end. It is intense, it is emotional and it will make your heart literally pounding and your mind frantically devouring each word. At least so I have heard ... :-) (Ups, that was a little more than one sentence ... )

 Q. Can you tell us a bit about your character Meghan? What makes her a worthwhile character? What do you think readers will love about her?
She is strong and has more human emotion and sense of right and wrong than many of her co-characters. She makes many mistakes trying to right the wrong, but she has a big heart to her and sometimes that counts for more. Her friendship with Jason, a human boy is a blend of excitement and utter sadness. You will need a box of tissue to make it to the end.

 Q. Do you have a favorite book in the Afterlife series? A favorite out of all the books you’ve written?
The third one called Endurance is the best one, I think. I loved writing all of them, but that one I especially enjoyed writing. I am planning on writing three more in the series, and I truly hope that each one will be better than the previous.

Q. Why did you decide to write in the Paranormal and Fantasy genres? What makes these genres so special to you? Why do you think so many YA readers enjoy these genres?
I have written mystery-novels before I started writing Paranormal Romance and I had become bored with the fact that everything had to be so realistic. I wanted to use my imagination a little more, so I wrote a fantasy-novel called The Eye of the Crystal Ball, but I still felt like something was missing. I really wanted to write romance, but didn't want to go back to the realistic world again, and that was when I discovered this genre and I fell in love at once. I get to write a romance story and use my imagination to create the world where it takes place. That is perfect for me.
I enjoy reading Paranormal Romance because they are about us humans. Even though they take place in a different setting whether it is among vampires, werewolves or ghosts and spirits, it is all about human emotions. And we all know the most important one is love. I never get tired from reading about love. It is so beautiful and so fundamental.

 Q. If you were to create a nail polish color inspired by your Afterlife series, what color would it be or resemble and what would you call it?
It would be purple - because purple is kind of a mixed color. It can be happy and light and almost pink but it it can also be dark. And in my books there are a lot of great and amazing things and places but there is also darkness. I think I would call it "From another world."

Q. What character, from any book/movie/tv show would you love to switch places with? Why?
I always wanted to be Atreyu in The Neverending Story. He is really cool and I would love to live in Fantastica and fly on a luck-dragon. That would be crazy.

Q. Who’s your favorite literary villain…who do you just love to hate or hate to love?
That has to be Bram Stoker's Count Dracula.

Q. What’s the one book you wish you wrote?
Harry Potter - I would love to sell that many books lol.

Q. What’s the one book you think everybody should read at least once in their life?
The Bible ... and Narnia.

Thanks for the great interview T.P.!
