The My Friend Moose’r McDan Blog Tour is stopping by today with a review and giveaway! This tour is presented by The Children's Book Review and sponsored by Sky Danley Productions...

Written by Sky Danley
Illustrated by Alli Coate

An aggressive hunter bear meets a gentle moose who is looking for a new friend. The moose is so friendly that the bear decides to drop his gun and stop hunting altogether. Instead, the bear learns that it’s more fun to just hang out with a new friend, playing games and enjoying nature. However, after the fall colors change, it’s time for the bear to go back home. The gentle moose is sad because he lost his play friend, so he is again looking for a new one. He invites whoever is reading the book to become his new friend.

Review and Giveaway: Kid Activists by Robin Stevenson

Kid Activists
True Tales of Childhood from Champions of Change
Written by Robin Stevenson
Illustrated by Allison Steinfeld
Quirk Books

Moving, relatable, and totally true childhood biographies of Martin Luther King Jr., Susan B. Anthony, Helen Keller, Malala Yousafzai, and 12 other inspiring activists.

Every activist started out as a kid—and in some cases they were kids when their activism began! But even the world’s greatest champions of civil liberties had relatable interests and problems--often in the middle of extraordinary circumstances. Martin Luther King, Jr. loved fashion, and argued with his dad about whether or not dancing was a sin. Harvey Milk had a passion for listening to opera music in different languages. Dolores Huerta was once wrongly accused of plagiarizing in school.  Kid Activists tells these childhood stories and more through kid-friendly texts and full-color cartoon illustrations on nearly every page. The diverse and inclusive group encompasses Susan B. AnthonyJames BaldwinRuby BridgesFrederick DouglassAlexander HamiltonDolores HuertaHelen KellerMartin Luther King Jr.Nelson MandelaIqbal MasihHarvey MilkJanet MockRosa ParksAutumn PeltierEmma Watson, and Malala Yousafzai.

Kid Activists is a wonderfully engaging and inspiring read that explores the childhoods of some of history’s most admirable activists. Robin Stevenson brings these activists’ stories to life through captivating, easily understood text and well-researched, honest facts. I learned SO much that I never knew about so many of the awesome people highlighted in this book. Stevenson showcases activists that fought for many diverse rights, including LGBTQ+ rights, women’s rights, the rights of POC, disability rights, and so much more. And Allison Steinfeld’s adorable, colorful illustrations bring these people and their stories to life spectacularly.

Kid Activists is an engrossing page-turner that will leave readers of all ages feeling inspired and empowered!
