Witches Protection Program Blog Tour (interview & giveaway)

The Witches Protection Program Blog Tour stops by today with an interview and giveaway. This tour is hosted by The Children's Book Review and sponsored by Michael Okon.

Witches Protection Program
by Michael Okon

Wes Rockville, a disgraced law-enforcement agent, gets one last chance to prove himself and save his career when he’s reassigned to a 232-year-old secret government organization.

The Witches Protection Program.

His first assignment: uncover a billion-dollar cosmetics company’s diabolical plan to use witchcraft for global domination, while protecting its heiress Morgan Pendragon from her aunt’s evil deeds. Reluctantly paired with veteran witch protector, Alastair Verne, Wes must learn to believe in witches…and believe in himself.

Filled with adventure and suspense, Michael Okon creates a rousing, tongue-in-cheek alternate reality where witches cast spells and wreak havoc in modern-day New York City.

Q1. What three words best describe your book, Witches Protection Program?
Witches. Protection. Program.

Q2. Grab a copy of Witches Protection Program and answer the following:
Favorite chapter?
Chapter 17. My favorite part of writing any story is the Fun and Games section. This is where our heroes are tested and the fun begins. Chapter 17 is when it kicks into high gear and the story really takes off.

Favorite page?
Page 126. Vincenza is wreaking havoc and testing our team. This was such a fun part to write. There was so much going on and there was the added element that the world discovers witches do indeed exist.

Favorite setting?
Wes, Alastair and Morgan’s confrontation with Vincenza on the George Washington Bridge.

Flip to a random page and give us a 1-2 sentences teaser:
Page 102
“Spiders, worms, and bats can swarm; to that, Morgan will run outside with alarm.”
The tabletop became a squiggling mess of black, red and orange nature could not reproduce if it tried.

Q3. What inspired Witches Protection Program? And can you tell us a bit about your hero, Wes Rockville?
The inspiration for Witches Protection Story is a slightly embarrassing story; so let’s begin with Wes Rockville. Wes is a dyslexic cop who is given a second chance to prove himself to his father who is the head of the FBI.
Bow for that embarrassing story: I was in my bathroom and glanced at my wife’s magazine collection. There was a caption that I thought said Witches Protection Program and I thought to myself – that is an awesome book idea. I realized the caption said Wetless Protection Program, but I didn’t care. I started writing that night.

Q4.  Who are some of your all-time favorite witch characters from pop culture/history?
Witch Hazel, Glinda, Grandmama from The Addams Family, Wanda Maximoff, Elvira, Hermione, Blair Witch, Maleficent, The Queen from Snow White, Twinrova from The Legend of Zelda.

Q5. If you were to create and bake a cupcake inspired by Witches Protection Program, what would it look and taste like, and what would you call it?
I don’t eat sugar but if I could, it would be a black cauldron cupcake with green frosting as the goo, eyeballs, and candy bats. A pretzel stick will be the stirrer.
