(5th MMGM) Wonder Woman at Super Hero High by Lisa Yee (review, giveaway)

Wonder Woman at Super Hero High
(DC Super Hero Girls #1)
by Lisa Yee

Random House BFYR
This groundbreaking new middle grade series follows DC Comics' most iconic female Super Heroes and Super-Villains . . . as high schoolers. At Super Hero High, the galaxy's most powerful teens nurture their powers and master the fundamentals of what it means to be a hero.

Super Hero High is home to the world’s best young, future Super Heroes (and even some Super Villains!) and its newest student is none other than young Wonder Woman! Wonder Woman can easily save the day, but surviving high school proves to be her hardest challenge yet. Mean girls, cute boys, fashion disasters, and people to save...Wonder Woman learns to face them all!

Wonder Woman At Super Hero High is the first book in the new DC Super Hero Girls series by Lisa Yee, which focuses on all our favorite female super heroes and villains, from the DC universe, in their teenage years. Fast paced, full of humor, action, and girl power, Wonder Woman At Super Hero High is pure fun from beginning to end!

Lisa Yee creates an engaging and entertaining world that will excite and intrigue young readers. With age-appropriate action, Wonder Woman At Super Hero High provides readers with super-sized thrills minus the violence, gore, and adult humor found in many of the comics and comic inspired media made for older audiences. Super Hero High is bursting with wicked powers, cool gadgets, neat classes, and wacky teachers. Young readers will be delighted by all this wondrous world has to offer!

We meet many young male Super Heroes and Super Villains (Beast Boy, Green Lantern, Cyborg, Captain Cold, and more), but the heart of this book (and series) are all the fantastic female characters! Female supers are often overlooked or one-dimensional in modern representations of comics aimed at adults, but Wonder Woman At Super Hero High celebrates these complex, strong, capable girls. Yee does a great job of bringing new energy and life to characters like Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Hawkgirl, Katana, and more. Both young girls and boys, will be inspired by these ladies and find them to be awesome and relatable.

Wonder Woman At Super Hero High has an exciting climax and concludes by introducing the newest Super Heroine and star of the next book in the series!

my final thoughts: With a fun premise, awesome characters, and enthralling action, Wonder Woman At Super Hero High is perfect for young comic lovers!

Seems like this would be pretty popular with number of superhero movies coming out. I like the mix of Wonder Woman and a High School as well as learning more about the villain's.

I've been Lisa Yee's fan since I read Millicent Min's curriculum vitae and her series. I look forward to this new series.
