The Fallout Blog Tour {Guest Post and Giveaway}

I'm so thrilled to have The Fallout Blog Tour stopping by today! Below you'll find out more about this book, a yummy guest post by the author, and a giveaway...

The Fallout
(The Compound #2)
by S.A. Bodeen
9/24/13
Macmillan

In this long-awaited sequel to The Compound, Eli and his family can run but they can't hide.

After barely escaping from the compound where Eli’s dad kept his family for six years, they’re learning to acclimate to “normal” life—whatever that is for them. It seems like the entire world wants to know what happened to this high profile family.

Slowly they begin to make their way back into the world, but Eli can’t escape the creeping feeling that they’re being watched everywhere they go. But by who?

Eli’s anxiety is heightened as unnerving information continually surfaces about Eli’s dad’s company. Not to mention the sketchy new friend his twin brother Eddy has. Nothing seems to be “normal” anymore. New people are entering their lives—but who can Eli and his family trust?

Food for the End
by S.A. Bodeen
Whenever I have a new novel come out, I try to send a little gift to my editor, usually involving some of the items from the book. For The Compound, I think the gift involved Snickers, Tic Tacs, and of course, a roll or two of Tums. My husband always asks why my books have so many snacks in them and I’ll tell you what I told him. I like snacks. And because my books typically have a lot of unpleasant things in them, why shouldn’t they also contain things that I think are nice, like foods that I myself enjoy? In The Gardener, I put my characters through a lot, but I did let them have a quiet moment with some cold Yoo Hoo. And in The Raft, a bag of Skittles has a starring role, and I’m often asked about the recipe for my Better than Anything cake which is described in detail by the main character of that book. (In real life, I make that cake a lot. I’ve actually heard my kids and their friends discuss that cake.) So, you may ask, is there any food in The Fallout? Come on, how could I not have food in The Fallout? Not only is there food, there may or may not be a trip to the Costco food court, the mecca of snack-lovers like myself. (I cannot leave a Costco without vanilla fro-yo. Cheapest brain freeze ever.) And, I suspect, after The Fallout hits the shelves, there may be a rush of emails in my inbox asking for my Kalua pork recipe…
