Vacation For Dexter (Dexter T. Rexter #3) Blog Tour (review & giveaway)

Vacation For Dexter
(Dexter T. Rexter #3)

Two Lions

Dexter T. Rexter is on a plane—for the very first time.

Dexter can’t wait to go on vacation with his best friend, Jack. Supercool orange sunglasses? Check. Nifty travel hat? Check. Plane tickets? Uh, what? Dexter may be the toughest, coolest dinosaur around, but everyone knows T. rexes don’t fly! If anyone could do it, he could. It’s just that he’s suddenly feeling a little hot. And maybe a little nervous. But just as he starts to melt down, he notices Jack looks upset. Dexter realizes he has to be brave enough for both of them. And maybe, just maybe, he’ll start to have a bit of fun in the air.

Both nervous and funny, Dexter tells the readers what he’s feeling and even asks their advice as he comes to understand that being brave with a friend makes everything a little better. And hey, those cookies during the flight don’t hurt, either!

Praise for Vacation for Dexter!
“The illustrations are just as laugh-out-loud funny as ever, with the toy’s expressions stealing every scene…Jack and Dexter have become a beloved duo, and the dino’s behavior-modeling sure goes down easily.” —Kirkus Reviews

Everyone’s favorite orange dino, Dexter T. Rexter is back and he and Jack are going on vacation to Florida! Dexter is so excited and all ready to go...until he realizes they’re flying on a plane. A noisy, way up high, barf bag filled plane! Scared Dexter starts to unravel until he sees that Jack is scared too. What’s the bravest dino to do when his bff is scared? Help him of course!

Lindsay Ward continues the charming and funny Dexter T. Rexter picture book series with book three, Vacation For Dexter. Once again, Dexter’s laugh-out-loud point of view and relatable predicament will delight and amuse. Aesthetically pleasing, the pages of Vacation For Dexter are full of lively, brightly colored illustrations and text that is often emphasized with different sizes and colors, all of which will captivate and engage little readers.

Perfect for read-aloud storytime,  with its irresistible dino star;  fun story; and wonderful illustrations, Vacation For Dexter is sure to be a storytime hit!

It's Show And Tell, Dexter! Blog Tour (review & giveaway)

It's Show And Tell, Dexter!

Dexter T. Rexter is going to school. But will anyone like him?

Tomorrow is the biggest event ever in Dexter’s life: his best friend, Jack, is taking him to school for Show and Tell Day! Dexter has been getting ready for weeks. But now he’s a little nervous. What if the other kids don’t like him? So Dexter decides to come up with a plan. He’ll wear a costume. Dinosaurs in bunny ears look good, right? He’ll recite state capitals starting with…uhaher. Then he realizes something. He can’t dance. He can’t recite things. He doesn’t have ANY skills. What’s a dino to do?

This comical, interactive tale of belonging, friendship, anticipation, and first-day-at-school jitters lets readers experience the excitement and nervousness along with Dexter—and even offer him a little advice along the way.

Praise for It’s Show and Tell, Dexter!
“Ward’s gentle art features cut-paper forms with residual pencil outlines, providing an ad hoc quality to the spreads. Readers prone to anxiety over big events should be tickled by the idea that a toy has concerns too.” —Publishers Weekly

“Ward's illustrations, made with printmaking ink, colored pencil, and cut paper, wonderfully capture Dexter's every emotion and over-the-top ideas.” —Kirkus Reviews

Dexter T. Rexter is excited because Jack is taking him to school for Show and Tell. Dexter is worried he isn’t special enough for Show and Tell, so he tries to come up with cool, exciting ways (costumes, dances, etc) to be more special...but maybe just being his Dexter T. Rexter self makes him the most special of all!

Lindsay Ward’s It’s Show And Tell, Dexter is a sweetly amusing and fun picture book with a wonderful message about friendship, first day nerves, and the power of just being one’ self. Dexter T. Rexter speaks directly to little readers through witty, lively text, creating a fun interactive experience. Little readers will laugh out loud as Dexter tries on silly costumes and practices interesting tricks, while relating to Dexter’s anxiety and nervous anticipation. Ward’s bright, mostly orange, yellow, and blue illustrations awesomely bring this endearing story to life.

It’s Show And Tell, Dexter will surely charm, engage, and entertain little readers!

Lindsay Ward is the author of the Dexter T. Rexter book Don’t Forget Dexter! Though she never got to bring an orange dinosaur to Show and Tell Day, she did once take all four albums of her sticker collection. She is also the author and illustrator of Brobarians, Henry Finds His Word, and When Blue Met Egg. Her book Please Bring Balloons was also made into a play.
