Clawful Cats Campaign

Today is National Pet Day and Penguin is celebrating with some clawful cats and other animal characters and books that readers will love....

Klawde: Evil Alien Warlord Cat
By Johnny Marciano and Emily Chenoweth
February 26, 2019
Penguin

Klawde is not your average cat. He's an emperor from another planet, exiled to Earth. He's cruel. He's cunning. He's brilliant... and he's about to become Raj Banerjee's best friend. Whether he likes it or not.

Klawde had everything. Sharp claws. Fine fur. And, being the High Commander of the planet Lyttyrboks, an entire world of warlike cats at his command. But when he is stripped of his feline throne, he is sentenced to the worst possible punishment: exile to a small planet in a quiet corner of the universe... named Earth.

Raj had everything. A cool apartment in Brooklyn. Three friends who lived in his building. And pizza and comics within walking distance. But when his mom gets a job in Elba, Oregon, and he is forced to move, all of that changes. It's now the beginning of summer, he has no friends, and because of his mother's urgings, he has joined a nature camp.

It's only when his doorbell rings and he meets a furball of a cat that Raj begins to think maybe his luck is turning around...

If you like your cats a little bit evil and a smidge overlordy (and c'mon who doesn't?!) than Klawde is the cat for you! This here is Captain Raymond Jacob Holt (we call him Holt) and don't let his cuteness fool you, if any cat were ever to become an evil warlord it would be him for sure!

And she isn't a furbaby, but Little A sure looks adorable with Klawde's ears.

Flubby Is Not a Good Pet
By J.E. Morris
April 23, 2019
Penguin

Meet Flubby--the lovably lazy feline who prefers a purr-fectly laid-back lifestyle!

Flubby is a large, sleepy cat who refuses to do the things that other pets do. He won't sing, catch, or even jump! But when a scary situation brings Flubby and his owner together, they realize they really do need each other--and that makes Flubby a good pet after all.

Flubby Will Not Play With That
By J.E. Morris
April 23, 2019
Penguin

Flubby, the lovably lazy feline, embarks on his next non-adventure!

When Kami brings home a bag full of toys for Flubby, the uninterested cat isn't enthusiastic about the choices. A wind-up mouse? No thanks. A fish hanging from a stick? Yawn. But after Flubby rejects each offering, one unexpected option may be the best fit for Flubby after all.

We have our own Flubby, just in bunny form! This is Luna and she does not sing, she does not want to play with your toys, but she is floofy and we love her.

Molly Mischief: My Perfect Pet
By Adam Hargreaves
February 12, 2019
Penguin

The irresistible new series by the author-illustrator of Mr. Men Little Miss.

Molly wants a pet. A big pet. But with Molly, mischief is never far away!

In this first book of a new series, Molly decides that an elephant would be a perfect pet. When she brings one home, she quickly learns that "perfect" isn't quite the right word. Elephants are big. Tigers are fierce. Giraffes are tall. Will Molly ever find the perfect pet?

A laugh-out-loud story for sharing, with bold, fun illustrations, this book celebrates a larger-than-life little girl learning a valuable lesson in appreciating what you've already got (unless he's your younger brother!).

Molly Mischief is looking for the perfect sized pet and what's better sized than a newborn kitten?! This is Smart Cookie (named by Little A) and she is most definitely the perfect pet!

All together, our family has a lot of furbabies, so here's some more cuteness on this National Pet Day!

This is Rambo and he is a very good boy

This is Mama Kitty and she hates everything

This is Hermione and Pippin and yes they are very squee-worthy
