I'm so excited to have the Who Was Blog Tour stopping by today to celebrate the Who Was? Book Series from Penguin and the new Who Was? Show on Netflix that brings these books to life...

Ben Franklin was the scientist who, with the help of a kite, discovered that lightning is electricity. He was also a statesman, an inventor, a printer, and an author-a man of such amazingly varied talents that some people claimed he had magical powers! Full of all the details kids will want to know, the true story of Benjamin Franklin is by turns sad and funny, but always honest and awe-inspiring.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born in 1869 in British-occupied India. Though he studied law in London and spent his early adulthood in South Africa, he remained devoted to his homeland and spent the later part of his life working to make India an independent nation.
Calling for non-violent civil disobedience, Gandhi led India to independence and inspired movements for civil rights around the world. Gandhi is recognized internationally as a symbol of hope, peace, and freedom.
In the Who Was? Series authors bring remarkable historical figures to life for young readers and, in the two books above, the lives and accomplishments of Ben Franklin and Gandhi are discussed and explored!
The first thing you notice about these books are the funny covers that feature their respected figure with a large bobble-head. These charming covers are perfectly eye-catching and will certainly draw young readers in straight away...but it's what's inside these fun, informative books that will keep readers captivated. Each book deftly explores the lives of Ben Franklin and Gandhi, from their surprising childhoods to their teen years, adulthood, and everything in between. From the infamous Lightning Kite incident to Ben Franklin's part in shaping the USA, and Gandhi's famous fasting protests and his legacy of peace, freedom, and strength, the authors cover all the important moments, trials, victories, and accomplishments that these two men experienced in their fascinating lives and do so in age appropriate and easily understood ways.
These books also include handy timelines, engaging illustrations, and sections of information that cover topics relevant to each individual's time period, culture, or impact on the world.
I learned many things I never knew about Ben Franklin and Gandhi and really enjoyed the way this information was presented and explained. I think young readers will also learn a great deal from this series as a whole and have a lot of fun doing so!
Who Was? Show
Fresh voices bring some of the most famous names in history to life. A live-action sketch comedy show based on the series of best-selling books.
Season 1 now available on Netflix.
The Who Was? Show on Netflix takes the books in the Who Was? Series and awesomely brings history to life through humor, catchy songs, and reenactments. I had so much fun watching Episode One, which features both Ben Franklin and Gandhi, that I've already watched almost all of the other episodes as well!
There's so much about this show that young readers are going to love, from the fact that it's young people starring in the show, to the hip way history is presented and explored, the laugh-out-loud humor, fun raps and songs, and, of course, all the fascinating information being learned. Each historical figure is given equal time to shine and most of the things covered in each book are explored on the show.
The Who Was? Show is able to captivate, entertain, and teach through its ability to bring history to life in fresh, exciting ways that young readers will really respond to.

After much thought and only recently being introduced to blog awards and blogger tagging, I'm going to have to declare this an award/tag free blog. I'm honored, humbled, and so very grateful for simply being considered for an award, but I simply do not have the time to return the favor. If I could, I'd award y'all with dozens of yummy cupcakes ;) Thanks for understanding.
