Oh Susannah: Things That Go Bump Blog Tour (interview & giveaway)

I'm thrilled to have the Oh Susannah: Things That Go Bump Blog Tour stopping by today with an author interview and giveaway! This blog tour is hosted by The Children's Book Review and sponsored by Carole P. Roman.

Oh Susannah: Things That Go Bump
Illustrated by Mateya Arkova
Susannah Maya Logan is not having a good day. She doesn’t want to go to her best friend, Lola’s sleepover. Susannah thinks the house is big and spooky, not to mention the ghost that is said to live there. Lola’s big brother, Kai, loves to tease Susannah with scary stories. Throughout her day, she sees people deal with things that scare them. Her sight-impaired friend, Macy, is terrified of unicorns, of all things. She sees a boy at a party who’s frightened of clowns. Her teacher is afraid of getting a cold. Susannah realizes everybody is scared of something. She wishes she was more like Lola, who is not afraid of anything, or so it seems. Susannah discovers people have different ideas of what is scary and what is not, and only they can determine the difference. Join Susannah as she learns to confront her fears and not let her imagination prevent her from having fun.

Ages 7-10 | Publisher: Chelshire | July 11, 2017 | ISBN-13: 978-1947188136

Q1. What three words best describe your book Oh Susannah: Things That Go Bump?
Funny, Scary, heart-warming.

Q2. Grab a copy of Oh Susannah: Things That Go Bump and answer the following:
Favorite chapter?
The chapter where Susannah and Lola are hiding in a crowd of dolls waiting to ambush an intruder. I still laugh every time I read it.

Favorite page?
The front illustration that shows Lola, Macy, and Susannah are walking together.

Favorite setting?
As they walk up a winding drive to Lola’s old Victorian house.

Flip to a random page and give us 1-2 sentences teaser:
“One of his hands clutched something high. It was round, the shape of a head, detached from its body! Dwayne's head!

Q3. What do you hope young readers learn from or take away after reading Oh Susannah: Things That Go Bump?
Everybody has fears. Something that may frighten you may not be scary to another person. Mostly fears are born from misunderstandings or not knowing enough about a subject. Once it is fully understood, it may not be scary anymore. You can’t let your fears paralyze you from having fun. Susannah realizes she wasted a lot of good time she could have been having fun on something that wasn’t even real or true.

Q4. In Oh Susannah: Things That Go Bump your character Susannah must overcome a big fear...what is one big fear you’ve had to overcome?
Heights . . . still working on it. I understand I can’t fall, and I have to fight the feeling that I am going to fall, even when there is a sturdy barrier. I am fine when someone else drives across a bridge, but for years I couldn’t do it. The hardest thing I did was drive by myself across a bridge. I held my mother's hand and stayed in the middle lane the whole way across the Throgs Neck. Going home was surprisingly easier.

Q5. If you were to create and bake a cupcake inspired by Oh Susannah: Things That Go Bump, what would it look and taste like, and what would you call it?
Chocolate Surprise: Rich chocolate covered with vanilla icing and filled with a marshmallow center with a hidden surprise mini-chocolate kiss.

Hey there cupcake! You look lovely today and I can tell you're thinking very smarticle thinky thoughts....so go ahead and post 'em!

After much thought and only recently being introduced to blog awards and blogger tagging, I'm going to have to declare this an award/tag free blog. I'm honored, humbled, and so very grateful for simply being considered for an award, but I simply do not have the time to return the favor. If I could, I'd award y'all with dozens of yummy cupcakes ;) Thanks for understanding.
