(Top 10 of 2013) Best Books I've Read in 2013

Top 10 of 2013 is hosted by Two Chicks on Books, Fiktshun, and Magical Urban Fantasy Reads.

2013 is coming to a close...where the hell did the time go?! Seriously, I can't believe 2014 is almost here, but honestly, I'm SO ready to say buh-bye to 2013. But, before I kick 2013 behind me, it's time to look back at all the books I read this year and pick my faves for the five different top ten categories this week...

Top Ten Books I've Read in 2013
(in no particular order)

1. Better Nate than Ever by Tim Federle
This pitch-perfect middle-grade book simply sparkles and shines! Federle's voice is magical, the story is both laugh-out-loud funny and poignant, and I loved every awesome moment of it!.

2. The Archived by Victoria Schwab
I just love the unique, enthralling premise of this book! Schwab spins such an addicting story and has created some wonderful characters.

3. Through the Ever Night (UtNS #2) by Veronica Rossi
I hardcore love this series and book two is phenomenal! Rossi has developed one of the most addicting worlds, but it's the characters I continue to love most...ROAR!!!

4. The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
This alien filled sci-fi is such a fun, action-packed, breathless read! I love how twisty and complex it is.

5. Charm & Strange by Stephanie Kuehn
This book is achingly and breathtakingly beautiful and compelling! I couldn't walk away from Kuehn's spellbinding story until I finished it.

6. Imperfect Spiral by Debbie Levy
This book, with its surprising poignancy and stellar characterization, hit me in ways I never expected. This book and its characters stayed with me for a long time.

7. Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan
I just adore Levithan's storytelling and this book is truly remarkable for many reasons. Levithan creates an unforgettable cast of characters and a timeless, yet immediate, story.

I'm such a Riordan fangirl and his Heroes of Olympus series never disappoints! And I applaud Riordan for placing an actual middle-grade aged LGBT character in this book!

9. Crest (Ondine Quartet #3) by Emma Raveling
This series is one of my faves for good reason--Raveling is a master at creating palpable, explosive, and electric stories! Crest is probably my favorite of the series so far and is by far the HOTTEST (hello Tristan!).

10. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
This book is sure to show up on MANY top ten lists this year, as it should! If I'm being honest, then Eleanor & Park was probably my most favorite book this year. This book pierced and moved me in the most stunning ways. Eleanor and Park are two of the BEST written characters and, almost a year later, I still find them on my mind. If you haven't read this book, DO IT!

Ok, so that's my Top 10 Books I've Read in 2013. What's yours?!
Come back tomorrow when I reveal my top 10 fave book covers of 2013.

  2. I have only read three of the books on the top ten. Indeed I've been seeing Eleanor and Park on a lot of lists. You have some MG reads, which I don't read a lot of. So it was a nice mix of stuff.

Hey there cupcake! You look lovely today and I can tell you're thinking very smarticle thinky thoughts....so go ahead and post 'em!

After much thought and only recently being introduced to blog awards and blogger tagging, I'm going to have to declare this an award/tag free blog. I'm honored, humbled, and so very grateful for simply being considered for an award, but I simply do not have the time to return the favor. If I could, I'd award y'all with dozens of yummy cupcakes ;) Thanks for understanding.
