Happy National Cupcake Day!

Today, Dec. 15, is National Cupcake Day in the US...
Awesome right? A whole day dedicated to celebrating the glory that is the cupcake! As you can imagine, I find this day quite exciting *squees*

Here's a little Cupcake history for you from punchbowl.com

National Cupcake Day

It’s National Cupcake Day! Cupcakes have been an American culinary icon since the 19th century. Prior to cupcakes, ingredients used in baking were primarily weighed rather than measured. These delightful treats shifted the art of baking from weighing to measuring ingredients.
For many years, cupcakes were known as one-two-three-four cakes because of their recipe: one cup of butter, two cups of sugar, three cups of flour, four eggs, plus one cup of milk and one spoon full of baking soda. This formula is still the traditional cupcake recipe that many people use today. Fun fact: the world's largest cupcake was displayed in July of 2009 at the Covent Garden Real Food Market in London. This cupcake was about 4 feet in diameter and weighed over 330 pounds! It also contained 200 eggs and took over 50 hours to make.

In honor and celebration of this most fabulous and revered day I, of course, made cupcakes! Now, remember I am not nor have I ever been a professional (or semi talented) cake decorator, which is why my cupcakes look a little, well, like kids decorated them. But, I get an A for yummyness...
As you can see there's a W and S for Word Spelunking and the middle ones are supposed to say "I <3 Books"...the word 'books' got a little smooshed.
And they taste better than they look.
I wish I could share them with all of you but the best I can do is lots and lots of virtual cupcakes *throws virtual cupcakes your way*.
But...I do have the next best thing- free books! Yay!
On Saturday (12/17) my 500 Follower Giveaway, where I'll be celebrating all my Cupcakes, will be posted and y'all will have the chance to win some awesome prizes. So be sure to come back Sat. and enter to win.

I hope you get the chance to enjoy a cupcake today...and think of me if you do ;)

After much thought and only recently being introduced to blog awards and blogger tagging, I'm going to have to declare this an award/tag free blog. I'm honored, humbled, and so very grateful for simply being considered for an award, but I simply do not have the time to return the favor. If I could, I'd award y'all with dozens of yummy cupcakes ;) Thanks for understanding.
