The Matt Monroe and the Haunted House Blog Tour is stopping by today with an author interview and giveaway! This blog tour is hosted by The Children's Book Review and sponsored by New Shelves Books...

Matt Monroe and the Haunted House
Written by Edward Torba

A haunted mansion. A community at risk. A group of teens with mysterious abilities. Strange sightings at the Payne mansion and baffling incidents in the countryside place the community of Kingston on edge. Did opening the portal to Paragon draw evil entitites to Kingston? In facing this new threat, Matt Monroe soon realizes he is not the only one who has secret talents. Many of his companions have hidden abilities which are exposed as Matt and his friends confront a terrifying, ethereal foe.

Ages 9-12 | Publisher: All Points Press, LLC | October 15, 2019 | ISBN-13: 978-0985082765

Q1. What three words describe you book, Matt Monroe and the Haunted House?
Exciting, eerie, surprising

Q2. Grab a copy of Matt Monroe and the Haunted House and answer the following:
Favorite chapter? Chapter 33, Master Plan

Favorite page? Actually, page 1 of the prologue.

Favorite setting? The Payne Mansion

Flip to a random page and give us a 1-2 sentence teaser:
“Matt walked toward the pavilion, and that’s when he saw it—a large creature crouched down near one of the block pillars. It was too big to be a bear.”  - Matt Monroe and the Haunted House page 110

Q3. Can you tell us a bit about your hero, Matt Monroe? What makes him unique and what do you love about him?
Matt is a typical 14-year-old boy, carrying a great burden. He suffers from leukemia, cancer of the blood. Even though he is in remission, the cancer could return with no warning. But Matt is a positive kind of guy about his medical situation. He is extremely loyal to friends and family. Even though he follows the rules, there is an ornery side to him, i.e. he spars rather regularly with his mother over his illness. He is fearless and someone you would want as a friend.

Q4. If you could visit any famous haunted house in the world, which would you choose and why?
Actually, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania is quite close to my home of Kingston. There are numerous sites where spirits are known to wander about, including the ghost of Jenny Wade, the only civilian killed in the Battle of Gettysburg. Baking bread on the last day of the battle, she was killed by a single stray bullet. It is said she still haunts her home and wanders through the town at night. I have never spent an overnight in Gettysburg, but family and friends have experienced a few “interesting” encounters after dark while there.

Q5. Fill in the blanks:
I’m really awesome atmy dentistry, gardening, cooking

I’m really embarrassed to admitI love sweets. I live for sweets. This is a big  no-no for a dentist.

The last great book I’ve read was: Any fantasy book is a fun read for me. I fell in love with the Game of Thrones series, so I would have to say Fire and Ice is the last great book I’ve read.

Q6: If you were to create and bake a cupcake inspired by Matt Monroe and the Haunted House, what would it look and taste like, and what would you call it?
For sure, the cupcake would be chocolate with a delicious cream center. The Icing would be an eerie green decorated with candy corn. Name of the cupcake: Matt’s Halloween Surprise.

After much thought and only recently being introduced to blog awards and blogger tagging, I'm going to have to declare this an award/tag free blog. I'm honored, humbled, and so very grateful for simply being considered for an award, but I simply do not have the time to return the favor. If I could, I'd award y'all with dozens of yummy cupcakes ;) Thanks for understanding.
