MUSING MONDAYS… is a weekly event hosted by Should Be Reading where MizB will ask a book/reading-related question, and you answer with your own thoughts on the topic
What is the one (or maybe two) qualities a book must have for you to pass it along to your best friend as a “must-read”? |
For me to even consider passing on a book to a friend as a "must read", it absolutely must resonate with me in some way. I need to connect with the book in some way, whether that be in the form of me connecting with a specific character, storyline, setting, ect. I need to be able to walk away from the book and think "Wow! I can't believe this book wasn't in my life sooner!"
And of course, the book must be well written. Meaning the characters and story must be well developed and dimensional.A few books that have met my criteria-and splendidly so- that I have actually passed on recently to friends are:
- Cut by Patricia McCormick
- Shine by Lauren Myracle
- The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
- Burned by Ellen Hopkins
- Peter Nimble and His Fantastic Eyes by Jonathan Auxier
What qualities must a book possess for you to be willing to pass it along as a "must read"?
It's Monday! What Are You Reading hosted by Book Journey, is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!
This Weekend I Read
Liesl & Po by Lauren Oliver
My review should be up in a day or two.
This Week I Hope To Read/Finish
Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick
Suspense by Jason Letts
Peter: A Darkened Fairytale by William O'Brien
What have you read this past week? What are you planning on reading this week?

The characters are the most important part of a story, to me.

Interesting selection. I look forward to your reviews.
ReplyDeleteThree-quarters of what I read this week was in the form of children's picture books. Please come see what they were.
Those look good, i'll have to try them. I love the name of your blog:)
ReplyDeleteso, how many books pass that "pass along" test?
ReplyDeleteI agree connection with a character is key, if you didnt like any of the characters...well that hurts the plot and pace of the story. Thanks for visiting my blog :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with your Musing answer. Also, a great least of books! Enjoy!
