Crater Lake: Battle for Wizard Island

I'm a banker by trade, but my life revolves around spending time with my family and serving in our church. Being a father and a husband are the most important things I can concentrate my time on and I enjoy it.
I have always enjoyed writing, but I had never even considered writing a novel until one morning I woke up with the idea for some characters in my mind. I was curious if I could write a book so I thought I'd give it a shot as an experiment.
After a long process of writing, nearly giving up mid-way through, editing, shopping for a publisher, changing the title and editing some more, my first book, Defensive Tactics, is being published through Cedar Fort on the Bonneville Books imprint, and is in stores.
My second book, Crater Lake: Battle for Wizard Island is a youth/fantasy book written with my oldest daughter and son in mind. They are avid readers who turned me on to books like Fablehaven and Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which I really enjoy. So, as a father trying to please his children, I wrote Crater Lake for them.

Lit Ink: Literary Inspired Tattoos

Happy Friday Cupcakes! It's been a looong week and I wanted to start the weekend off by talking about something fun- Literary Inspired Tattoos!!!

I love books and I love tattoos...so it would make perfect sense that I LOVE tattoos inspired by books and literature. In fact, I love both SO much that I have two literary inspired tats of my own...
Harry Potter Inspired Tattoo

This tattoo is on my inner left forearm and proudly displays my love for all things Harry Potter.  As you can see there are several symbols representing the world of Harry Potter - wand, lighting bolt, snitch, ink & quill- and of course, the infamous "Mischief Managed". To me, mischief managed represents the idea that a little bit of mischief and fun is a daily necessity and accomplishment!

General Fairytale Inspired Tattoo

This tattoo is on my inner right forearm and isn't inspired by one specific book or story, but instead is inspired by all things fantastical and fairytale-ish.  I suppose it kind of symbolizes my imagination and reminds me to never quit believing in magic, fairytales, and make believe.

Here are some pretty awesome literary inspired tattoos I found on the interwebs...

Alice in Wonderland

Lord of the Rings

Where The Wild Things Are

Shel Silverstein Inspired Tattoos

Twilight Saga

Chronicles of Narnia

More Harry Potter

Now, I wanna see YOUR literary/book inspired tattoos or your favorite book tattoos!
If you have a tattoo inspired by a book/story/character/writer or have come across any awesome book tattoos and want me to share them in future Lit Ink posts just send me an email with the subject "Lit Ink": wordspelunker@gmail.com

What do you think about literary tattoos?!

**UPDATE**
Hey, Cupcakes! I just wanna say thanks for the comments and interest in this post! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who loves literary tattoos. It seems as though some of you may have gotten design degrees with all of the artistry shown in these tattoos. Since this seems to be a pretty intriguing topic I'm going to try and do a weekly Lit Ink post, every Friday, with pics of literary/book tattoos and maybe weekly themes (book quote tats, classic book tats, YA book tats, etc) AND if enough people are interested perhaps other bloggers will do Lit Ink meme posts of their own! So check back next Friday (really Thursday night) for the first "official" weekly Lit Ink meme post...I'll try to come up with a great theme this week.

***Second Update***
This weekly meme is now called TATTED THURSDAY and will be featured on Thursdays. Click HERE to learn more.

Cupcake Update: Can We Forget This Week Ever Happened?!

^^^this is pretty much how I've felt all week^^^
(and how kewt is this baby? I wanna smoosh him!)

So you've probably noticed that I haven't been around much this week- check out this POST to learn more why- but I just wanted to pop in real quick and say "Hi"...and to ask if we can just go ahead and fast forward time and make this week end already?!
It has been a looooong week :/

I've come down with the sicks *cough cough sniffle sniffle* which has slowed down any productiveness on my part. But I have been working hard on next month's
March MG Madness Event  which starts next week (March 1). And I am SO FRIGGIN EXCITED for this event. Next month will be full of tons of MG Goodness (author interviews, guest posts, MG reviews, and GIVEAWAYS!!!). So yay for that!

I apologize for a lack of reviews this week but I will be posting my reviews of Partials and Me and Earl and the Dying Girl sometime this weekend, and like I said above, next month will be chock full of reviews...plus quite a few fun blog tours. Oh, and speaking of blog tours, the Crater Lake Blog Tour will be stopping here Saturday, Feb. 25 with a giveaway!

And don't forget to enter my 6 Month Blogoversary Giveaway for a chance to win a copy of Jennifer Armentrout's novella Shadows. This giveaway ends Friday 2/24 at 11:59 pm ET. For this giveaway I asked entrants this question- If you were to bake a cupcake inspired by a book, which book would it be inspired by, what flavor would it be and what would you call it?- and I have really enjoyed reading everyone's answers! There are some awesome and creative cupcakes being created. Maybe some of you should check www.onlinecollegeclasses.org for online cooking degrees! I may just have to pick my favorite one and maybe offer another ebook ;)

Ok, Cupcakes that's all for now. I hope you all have a great rest of the week and awesome weekends *hugs and cupcakes to you all*
