Black Canary: Ignite Blog Tour (review & giveaway)

Black Canary: Ignite
By Meg Cabot
Illustrated by Cara McGee
10/29/19
DC Zoom

Thirteen-year-old Dinah Lance knows exactly what she wants, who she is, and where she's going. First, she'll win the battle of the bands with her two best friends, then she'll join the Gotham City Junior Police Academy so she can solve crimes just like her dad. Who knows, her rock star group of friends may even save the world, but first they'll need to agree on a band name.

When a mysterious figure keeps getting in the way of Dinah's goals and threatens her friends and family, she'll learn more about herself, her mother's secret past, and navigating the various power chords of life.

Meg Cabot’s Black Canary: Ignite is a joyously loud and awesomely triumphant new middle-grade graphic novel. With an empowering story, a fierce heroine, and compelling illustrations, Black Canary: Ignite rocks!

Y’all I LOVE this graphic novel...like, I really, really love it! Meg Cabot gives a powerful and inspiring voice to a young Dinah Lance, whose origin story is captivatingly and cleverly laid out in this graphic novel. Cool action, intriguing superpowers, deliciously wicked baddies, relatable teen angst, sick tunes...this graphic novel has it all and young readers will be amused and impressed by all of it.

Cabot’s engaging storytelling and McGee’s fun, lively and bold illustrations work in perfect harmony, creating a spectacular reading experience. Black Canary: Ignite is a fantastic introduction to the charming Dinah Lance/Black Canary and her never boring, girl power and music fueled world!

MY RATING
5/5 Cupcakes

Meg Cabot was born in Bloomington, Indiana during the Chinese astrological year of the Fire Horse, a notoriously unlucky sign, but learned at an early age that a good storyteller can always give herself a happy ending.  Her 80+ books for both adults and tweens/teens have included multiple #1 New York Times bestsellers, selling over twenty-five million copies worldwide. Her Princess Diaries series has been published in more than 38 countries and was made into two hit films by Disney. Meg’s numerous other award-winning books include the Mediator series, the Heather Wells mystery series, and Avalon High, the later of which was made into a film for Disney Channel. Meg Cabot (her last name rhymes with habit, as in “her books can be habit forming”) currently lives in Key West with her husband and various cats.
